Land acknowledgement

CUPE 2049 acknowledges that our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabeg Peoples and the lands of Nipissing First Nation, covered by the Robinson-Huron Treaty of 1850.

As a union committed to equity, dignity, and social justice, we recognize the ongoing impacts of colonization on Indigenous Peoples and communities. We honour the resilience, cultures, languages, and knowledge of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples and acknowledge their enduring relationship with these lands and waters.

Reconciliation requires more than acknowledgment. It calls for learning, action, and a commitment to supporting Indigenous rights, voices, and self-determination. CUPE 2049 is committed to fostering respect, inclusion, and solidarity as we work toward a more just future for all.
